MOOT CUTE! Citizens Adorably Expect to Change Anti-Choicer Minds by Pointing Out Hypocrisies
“There’s no chance that anti-choicers would dare call this intent to control women as some way of honoring their savior,” he said with cherubic innocence.
“There’s no way they will be anti-choice after seeing this,” cackled Amber T. Gonsharch, as she posted yet another abortion-rights graphic to her social media feeds.
“This is like the 100th meme I’ve posted this week,” she said. “They must really be rethinking their views now.”
Gonsharch was one of hundreds of millions of American citizens, horrified by the fact that the right of a woman to control her own body came under attack once again.
She, and millions like her, immediately launched into a social media posting frenzy, adorably expecting their efforts to change hearts and minds of committed religious extremists.
Tara Wallenburg was taking a different approach. Instead of cheeky memes, she was furiously filling her feeds with statistics that clearly showed outlawing abortion leads to increased deaths.
“I just imagine those anti-choicers weeping when they see the irrefutable logic. They call themselves pro-life but the data shows they aren’t. Surely they will be stunned by their own hypocrisy,” she said, revealing her angelic innocence by thinking that monstrous zealots genuinely cared about life or facts.
Was there any data showing that there was a change of heart under this avalanche of information?
“None yet,” said Wallenburg, “I’m getting a lot of clicks and likes, though. Pro-choice views are still somewhere between 75 and 80 percent of the American people, while it’s holding steady at far less than 40 percent among elected officials and selected judges.”
She sighed and posted another graph before misguidedly adding, “There’s no way they’ll ignore the data.”
Listen also to the endearing naivety of Rob Sellstorm, who shared the heart-wrenching tale of his cousin. Raped at fifteen, she became pregnant and got an abortion. Had the procedure been outlawed, as it seems it will be any day now, she would have had to give birth to the assaulter’s child.
“There’s no way anyone can listen to that story and still support anti-choice,” he said with cherubic optimism.
“There’s no way that anyone who identifies as a Christian would fail to be moved by my cousin’s story. The teachings of Christ are about not judging, it’s rooted in loving people unconditionally. There’s no chance that anti-choicers would dare call this intent to control women as some way of honoring their savior. Surely, they will see the light.”
Adorable Mr. Sellstorm. He truly believes that stone-hearted religious fanatics bent on control will have a change of heart when it’s pointed out how cruel they actually are. Isn’t that sweet?
